SVEA 123R for the same price I would pay for fast food. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately for the price cut, it was missing it’s windscreen but otherwise fine. Had some nice patina which I didn’t disturb and I changed out the filler cap seal just to be safe. First time lighting it fought me a little but it finally sputtered happily along. It is not real useful without a windscreen/pot holder and although I could buy a spare I decided to merry it with a little 19th Century technology and forged a small trivet that sits just above the flame like the potstand. I’ve made these little trivets before and they are handy in the campfire or fireplace hearth for warming but also seem to make a decent potstand for this stove. Kinda steampunk looking I think. Daylight pictures so you can’t see the flame but it is pulsing right along and boiled some cowboy coffee. Since I was going real retro, I stitched up a little leather finger saver for when I forget and leave the key in. I think I will make a finger saver for my other SVEA as well as the 71’s having previously sustained a blister or two from forgetfulness.
If you look on Ebay, Etsy or other auction sites, you'll sometimes find Sigg Tourist or Optimus 88 cooksets that use a ''naked'' Svea as the heatsource. Very nice pot stand, all the same.
I figure I will pick up a Sigg tourist someday but prefer to scout the junk (antique) shops for goodies. Kinda keeps my spending under some control. eBay can cast an evil spell where all caution is abandoned or you end up with a broken heart due to snipers. Just being silly but do like to find things and then get them in my hands before buying. I will use the trivet in the campfire as a warmer plate (whenever California quits burning up).
