How about the pricker needle @Remus1956? You may be ok for a while before the jet clogs, but you’ll need a working pricker for reliable working. Getting the pricker to enter a jet with a hypodermic needle insert requires:- no projection of the insert on the inside of the jet or the pricker needle will snag on it a chamfer on the inside edge of the hypo needle insert to guide the picker wire into it. Without that the pricker needle will snag. 1. Is easily achieved but 2. is less obviously done. Putting a chamfer on the inside circumference of a stainless steel tube of 0.32mm internal bore requires a fine cutting point. The solution I’ve arrived at are jewellers’ broaches. These.
@presscall that's my next step haha. I wanted to see if it was worth the effort to try to fix so thought if I can get the jet working and it burns blue then the next step is the pricker. I didn't take a photo of it but the jet is really wide in the back so it's easy to see inside. When I mounted this needle in it I made sure inside the jet was flush... The outside was the only thing I needed to trim off. It's a pain to cut this... But did the cutting wheel trick and after a diamond knife stove to hone it flat on the ends of the needle... insert... pulled flush inside...torched with flux...dot of silver..cleaned it up..needle was brittle but that's ok.... It was safe in the jet. Ran a 96 stoves pricker through it...ran it . Runs blue Next is pricker haha
@Remus1956 that flame looks perfectly blue. so ,it was too big of a hole/too much fuel? Prescall is the best guy to ask a question on this forum and surely he has a good answer to help you out. I would make him best forum member user here!
@Remus1956 when it comes to Lpg nozzles I have too many of them. Smallest hole I found to buy just for my eyes and curiosity to admire is 0.1mm for 3D printing. brass type. There are also variants of much tougher alloys and heat resistance than brass in same 0.1mm or 0.3/0.4mm . When small holes are needed some specialised tools are a must too...
@Gabriel Lorin yeah it looks like it was way too large of a jet. When I bought these syringes I thought I would have to drill the jet out to fit them into it as the needle was .5nm on the outside. I could put the needle straight into it without any issues... Yeah very very big worn out hole. Too much fuel was big yellow flame and soot. Now it's nice and blue
@Remus1956 I'm begining to like non-pressurised stoves ,for simplicity Deville Romeo blue flame is intriguing :-) And it burns even heating oil as long as viscosity is right(one could heat it electrically to lower viscosity). Frequent cleaning carbon residues is required :-)
Well I decided to try a little more on this French stove...I had a blue flame but it was not too strong so this in my mind was caused by two things... plugged jet or losing air. So as much as I was not looking forward to this...I took the damned thing apart again... I'm getting quite good at it now but it's not easy with big stupid hands Anyway....so I took the tank out and took the generator apart....and pricked the jet... It was a little plugged... Ok but now I decided to really take the whole valve assembly apart and out of the tank...so .. Described as being "stupidly bold" I tried I thought in vain to try it with my hands....and it surprised me that it turned really easy. I'll get to why in a sec... Photo of it out The valve is NOT pipe threaded. This was interesting. Also if uses a locking nut for a tension lock. It's brass the fuel pickup is like a soda straw...or like a Coleman quick lite lantern... Just a tube really. So decided to use loctite (idea from @presscall in another post on a different stove) and put a small dab on the threads..ran the generator in...and when it was lined up I turned the thin brass nut snug and waited 15 minutes for a cure. Pumped it up .. Higher than normal with just air and dunked it. No bubbles... No loss of pressure. I got it.... And my satisfaction and full stomach of carne asada and beans tells me that I got this stove running... Finally... Like any other stove I have. Runs nice.. I thought to add the last photos of the generator out as I don't think anyone has taken photos of it out. Hope it helps someone out who decided to turn a lemon into lemonade. Note: made a sliding adjustment tube for the air mixture...works better on my stove And the success burn....
