A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had won a Coleman 425 on eBay. It arrived last week, and I used it last night, out on the back porch. It came with the folding aluminum stand, which is peachy, as I don't have a table on the porch to perch it on. It also came with a Portable Oven, which I haven't tried yet. Will have to make some brownies or something. Anyway, the dang thing is just a marvel. Every bit as good as I remembered. I gave my old one to my brother when he started camping with his boys, having plenty of stoves to use for my own needs. But it is great to have the good old 425 again. Nice to be able to boil water for tea at the same time as my dinner was cooking, for one thing. For another, I had forgotten what fine simmer control it has. If you simmer on the auxiliary burner, and with a judicious adjusting of the two knobs, you can set it just about on "Dont' cook the food any more but keep it warm."
Hey, Brerarnold, Congrats on getting back into a Coleman 425! These are wonderful stoves, and until a Stovie has experienced using them, it's hard to understand just how good they are!!! Very few stoves simmer as well as do the old 425's, and they ain't too shabby at super quick boiling, either!! Again, congrats on getting another one, and also all the other goodies that came with our 425!! How about some photos, when you get a chance? Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
I love the coleman stoves! cant get enough of them. I just love the fact that i can pick one up and have it look like (#&T and with some cleaning, and maybe a new generator, it is good to go!
