https://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/hvo/d/75-gallons-of-kerosene-and/6644380373.html 75 gallons kero for $150, large tank and the kero. It really pays to watch the local classifieds.
K1 kerosene is $4.50/gal. at the local MFA pump in Norte Mudzoory, or better known as the green hills of north Missouri, Brookfield today July 23, 2018. friends of mine picked up all 5 gals. of Crown Fuel at Cargo Largo in Independence, Mo. at $3.45/gal. on sale with 40% coupon Saturday the 21st. of July 2018. Coleman fuel was $8.99/gal. all i know about it. buzz
Methylated spirits (500ml) is back in stock in Home Bargains stores locally for £1.29 / bottle, "Bartoline" branded and it's not even on special offer! £2.58/litre is pretty keen even compared to buying in bulk
@Macaroon That is a great price for meths. B&Q, probably the largest DIY chain in the UK, claim that they sell cheaply. But they are selling meths exactly 3 times the price that Home Bargains are charging!
Thanks Trevor @shagratork, quite timely. Now the Turm has an accessible home in the kitchen my meths consumption has risen considerably.
@shagratork Yes, I was startled too! I usually find the "No Nonsense" brand from Screwfix cheaper than the B & Q option but both are own-brands and very expensive compared to Home Bargains. The difference is stock availability I guess - HB are not the most reliable, I guess some of the saving comes from them buying surplus stock? Not sure how they operate but that could help to explain their low prices.
@Macaroon it's also Wilko BBQ lighter fluid sale time of year, fill your basket with cheap paraffin, usually £1.25/a litre or less. Must check this weekend.
Hi I never use purple method now, alcool brulee or bioethanol is all I use. I get a couple of gallons when on holiday in France <€9 for 5 litres and it last more than a year. Next year I won't need to buy any. Paraffin, I'm hoping to get from another allotment association as ours has stopped buying it in. Haven't bought panel wipe for years, out of one gallon there's still quarter left.
Thanks @Simes for the BBQ lighter fluid tip - will look out for it if the heating oil is not available! Is it similar or better than pump kerosene (heating oil)?
@Macaroon. The lighting fluid has been examined previously on this thread in some detail. It works prefectly well in lamps and stoves, the only drawback is you just have to recycle the bottles if decanting. If.you can get paraffin cheaper in quantity then there's not much saving, but for some it's a great deal.
Thanks, will look back for interest. Indeed, compared to prepac and 4l bottles from fuel station forecourt prices, which I often end up paying, that BBQ fluid is a very good price.
I somehow managed to miss the wilko lighting fluid bargains and still to check out Home Bargains for meths. B&Q locally are out of stock of bioethanol. Were the fires a fad? https://ekofuel.org/alcohol-camping...ing-fuel/12l-bioethanol-fuel-for-camping.html Has anyone dealt with this supplier and have an opinion?
I mentioned a while back that Home Bargains had 500ml bottles of meths back down to 99p. I was wrong, they played fast and loose with their labelling! The labels had been put under the wrong products making it seem like it was 99p whereas this price was for another product.
@Simes yes you are right, and also in the stock availability! Often the prices are great but only for a short time, I wonder if it's to clear overstocks. I genuinely did pay £1.29 for 500ml of meths earlier this month, but the next time I was in there it was out of stock. The following time it was back in stock but at a higher price (I can't recall what). However, they seem to be consistently low for meths.
Here in the states the local Home Depot wants $7.99/quart for denatured alcohol. The local walmart sells the same brand and size for roughly $4.99. Order your denatured alcohol from walmart online and it's $56.27 per five gallons with free shipping to the store atm. A massive savings.
