Lookin at the picture https://classiccampstoves.com/members/raksakul.21515/ posted. The older 123 design has an heat shiled/plate that is missing on the other one. (And it has a safety valve)
With that rubber base it raises the stove to the same level as the 123. It's actually shorter than the 123. I've never had an issue with this stove after many uses. But than again I've been spoiled with my SOTO windmaster Campingmoon knock off. I don't use it anymore when I'm Motorcycle camping.
Received mine today. Not tested yet, but it has the small silent burner. Here is the manual: iWalker G43 Manual | PDF
Picked this thing up. Nice little silent burner, great flame. Especially for $42 shipped. Issues and observations: - Build quality is pretty darned good. Compared to my 123r, which came with a crooked burner out of the undamaged box. I've read reports of leaky valves and a leaky tank to burner connection. YMMV as will all things Ali. -The valve action is very stiff after multiple test burns. Any tips on that? - The priming indent is very deep and hard to get a standard bic in there with the windscreen. -Off gasing some smoke from the valve area. Only did a 25 minutes of combined burn, maybe manufacturing grease. Will report back. - Tested the "no priming restart" time. Basically, let it cool and timed the ability to restart without priming. About 7 minutes of cooling time with easy restart. In the garage, so no wind, about 70f ambient temps at 4300ft elevation in SLC. Not bad! One of the primary benefits of this design. My 123r was about 4 minutes. Maybe stainless has more eutectic capacity and/or slower cool down rates compared to brass? - After a long burn got some flame candling from the jet on "off". Don't want to overtighten the valve. Will see if the cleaning needle needs to be reset and maybe check the valve orifice and mating surfaces for debris. - Mine definitely has a wick. - This sucker gets hot. I don't care what they say, this thing needs a PRV. The tank is super solid stainless, so maybe that's the logic. To me that translate to an even more, er, soecaltaculsr failure mode. Maybe somebody will do one out of brass at some point. As stated before the tank cap is crappy aluminum with sloppy scratchy threads. I'll try to measure with a thread gauge (more below) - At the very least I will be fashioning some sort of heat reflector plate under the burner ala the 123r. - Mine doesn't have that nifty silicone base ring thing. Would love to get one for the snow. Somebody asked for measurements so I'll do another post with more detailed info shortly.
Good review pretty much sums up what others have encountered. Let us know how the heat shield comes out. Has anyone pointed an Infrared Thermometer at one of these yet and taken start to finish heat reading? Nothing has exploded so far..
All right fam, some measurements. Stove body dimensions: 123mm tall 130mm tall including legs 100mm wide Weight (mostly empty) on my scale: Stove body: 15.18 oz, 430.9g Valve key: .52oz, 15g Total weight 15.7oz, 445g
I found a fuel cap with pressure gauge for the g43s from AliExpress. As a test I boiled some brown rice and monitored the pressure readings. This is what my setup looked like. I ran the stove on full power to get the water to a boil and then turned it to a level that would just maintain the bubbling. For the first ten minutes the pressure kept rising steadily for 0.01 Mpa per minute. After that the pace slowed finally reaching 0.15 Mpa or 1.5 bar or ~21.75 psi. The pressure stayed at this reading until turn off. Total boil time was roughly 25 minutes. After turning the stove off the pressure increased another 0.01 Mpa. The fount was hot for the most of the time but I was able to touch it for a second or so. This gave me a bit more confidence using the g43s for more than just quickly boiling a kettle.
Funny your burner head is larger than what most of these come with. Looks like the the Iwalker G43-S stove, basically the same stove but a wider silent burner head. I swapped such a head off my green APG Silent burner stove and found it to be less efficient.
The tariff tax must be a pain. Some people here are promoting a tax against buying unnecessary low quality stuff from Ali, Temu, Shein etc and I partially agree with them. Though I don't know how are they going to define what is unnecessary and what isn't. This the cap I got: Capuchon de manomètre bricolage pour poêle G43S M14x1.0 G1/8 0,25 MPa - AliExpress 18
I'm pretty stocked up on Camping stuff from Ali. But the prices have went up 40% with some high shipping cost mark up. Thanks for the link, shipped to the U.S. is $21.00. Don't really need it unless it had a pressure relief to it.
