It looks like the slotted screw is to close the hole after machining into the fuel feed side. The tapered shoulder reduces the need for a gasket.
Hello John, In your catalogue pictures, there are two options presented. The option entitled "Lasur" shows a different burner. Is the pictured burner possibly an insert? Would it locate onto the three nail-like projections, thereby allowing carburetion to take place. Just curious. Best regards, Mike.
Hi Mike. I took the illustration to depict a screw-on alternative to the bunsen burner type and not an insert. The wider-spread burner has a lower overall height and evidently a shorter pot stand/trivet was intended for it than the laboratory tripod. @gieorgijewski Great link, thank you. John

Thanks @gieorgijewski Great find. The embossed ‘G. Barthel’ on the fuel tank is in a different (lower) location than on the one I have, but the fuel cap is a match (plain cap, no ‘wings’). John

@presscall Hi John, I still haven't sourced a jet for my G. Barthel Bunsen Burner and decided to re read the various threads regarding G. Barthel burners. It was then a rediscovered this post and had a lightbulb moment!! I realised the jet 506 and size you refer to in this thread looks to be the same as the one I will need. (Identified in G.Barthel Burner catalogue). The catalogue also refers to a 508 jet. In addition I realise that the Aspen fuel you use would be the best alternative to the Benzine/Benzol (light petroleum distillate) referred to in the catalogues for this burner. Would you agree? So my question is - if you are using Aspen fuel successfully with a 506 jet what is the aperture or jet hole size? I have some metric jets that came with a new gas cooker that runs on North sea gas (I think the spare jets are for conversion to Butane or other type of gas). The thread of these spar jets fit the Barthel Burner. These jets have a range of sizes running from 0.55 up to 0.70. Do you know if they would work or are they too big? If you are able to help I will be a step closer to getting this thing running. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers! Brassmonkey
