Ok after my first 2 stove worked straight out the box i thought i would get one that needs a bit o fettling

The right stove came up, a Radius 21 with all parts still present, including the lighter/pilot light thing. But....

It doesnt make pressure and needs a good tidy up.

    1. It needs a new pump leather, fine i can make one of those no probs and i have a spare anyway

    2. The NRV Valve, at the moment i cant get it out so i have brought the correct tool (awaiting delivery) - supposing its malfunctioning (highly likely) where would i be able to source a spring and piece of rubber that is suitable for a repair?

    3. the tank sounds like its got lots of crud in it, some i shook out, but is rinsing it out with clean paraffin the best way to clean it?

    4. What (if any) washer goes between the tank and the riser pipe/burner head? (the burner is in 2 parts - the head and then a riser pipe - currently joined together but im unsure if a washer goes between these and the tank itself) It looks like the remains of a lead washer in the seat but im not sure.

    4. in the opening on the top of the tank, its quite mucky - it almost looks like a cross between limescale and that green patina you get on copper. anything to worry about?

    5. What size jets does this take? 0.32? (hope so as i have some spare!)

    6. On the tank filler cap, the rubber washer is a little indented and brittle looking, again, where can i get a piece of rubber suitable to fashion a washer from for this cap?

    sorry for the number questions!

    all help appreciated

    Hi
I have nearly completed a Radius 21 which I will put some pics up later.
One of the experts will point out what you need to do to get the stove up and running or you can look through the fettling forum like I do.
    Good Luck with your fettle
    Cheers Tim

The NRV spring is probably fine, if it holds the little plunger to the valve face then its good to go. Nitrile rubber sheet 1.5 or 2 mm thick is good for NRV pips. It can be had from eBay or other internet suppliers. Big Si is planning a Viton sheet group buy soon, drop him a PT. With a compass cutter (dead cheap from a craft store) you can use the same stuff to make all the filler cap gaskets you will ever need.

Have a look at your filler cap gasket, it will be hard and plasticky. It should be soft and rubbery. Dig it out, or in extremis, burn it with another stove flame then dig it out. Replace it. Dont skimp on this step, I have been let down while camping by an old filler cap that was okay for a quick brew but gave up the ghost during a proper cook-out.

Small nuts or shot or ball bearings can be rattled around in the tank to dislodge the crud. You can rinse out with water if you finish with a good rinse of meths. The meths dissolves the remaining water and leaves the tank dry. That way you only need one rinse of expensive stuff.

The riser/tank washer is lead. Base Camp sells these.

    A 32 jet is right.
