I’ve taken the red knob screw out. Is there anything missing?
Is there meant to be a washer inside the nut? IMG_5355.jpeg
Does it just need to be more tightly bolted on?

It's a bit late here for a long answer, I don't know what should be inside as it's an unknown stove , I think there is the remnant of the seal at the bottom of the nut sometimes there is a washer you can try tightening the nut or as suggested earlier get some graphite tape to make a new one. It's also known as a stuffing box and possibly used graphite string as the seal, You can use the search function (the magnifying glass in the top right hand corner) to research this. Also read the threads I linked to
    Regards Dave.

This is what I found inside the nut. I presume I need graphite packing to replace the seal? IMG_5357.jpeg

Yes, you’ll need some graphite. That might be asbestos you have there, so don’t snort it.

If you send me a message (use “Conversations”) I’ll send you some graphite tape you can cut and roll for packing.

    Cheers

    Tony

I was going to suggest that Tony might know where to find some graphite in Australia and +1 on the warning about asbestos, I am always very cautious when I find any fibrous material on stoves and usually wet it to avoid creating dust or loose fibres.

I recommend the OCP graphite ribbon.

G'day @Clogger and welcome to CCS.
An interesting stove you have there.
Is that a crack in the small tube at the top, between the fuel vaporization chamber and the valve?

It appears to be a soldered repair that hasn’t been polished smoothed.

That's OK then and shouldn't be a problem.

Well done, that's looking a lot better if a little rich, it may improve more with a pot or kettle on it.
