Help to identify and how to light?

    It looks like it’s meant to sit under a kettle on a frame or some food heating or medical unit.

    Option 1, Tony, per the photo in the original post- quite a nice trivet/stand.

    I'm impressed by the flame! A serious oldie and it's back alive!

    @Clogger I'm not a good judge of richness in a photo. Does it leave any soot on the kettle? Most alcohol stoves will. Adding a little water in the metho (around 5% but it's a suck-and-see number) slows the burn, allowing cleaner burning with the same air mix.

    I’m using meths and the there is no soot on the pan.
    2 more photos, including a pan with boiling water.
    Still no idea of its name or history etc??
