when it rains it pours, i guess... happened upon a $1 table at the local flea market and saw this: after gladly paying my 10 thin dimes, i brought it home to take a look: i have a Trangia .9L kettle (marked for use with the 25 set), but it is too big the spirit burner just has a plain 'T,' and was slightly corroded along the jet holes, but cleaned right up with a soft brass brush and made a nice cup of tea in a jiffy! my questions are: 1. am i to assume this is an older 27 cookset? there are no model markings; the handle is marked 'Trangia - Made in Sweden' 2. do you think the .6L 27 kettle would fit inside? 3. is the cookset missing a matching pot? thanks in advance! i always look forward to reading what the experts here have to say (oh, and the reason for 'when it rains it pours' is that i found a Coleman 228F in beautiful shape only a few minutes later for $10) :-)
I have to start going to more garage sales, flea markets, etc... All I ever come across are old sweaters & half used shampoo bottles.
Hey, Linux_author, WOW!! What a grand find!! I have one question, before I answer yours: did you choose to dry-clean your mask, or hand wash it, after having STOLEN that fine little Trangia set??!!!! ONE DOLLAR!!! That has got to be one of the best finds, ever!! Well done!! I do believe that your new little Trangia is the model 27. I now have two of those, and love them both! My second 27 was quite different from the first. #2 arrived with one pot and the lid, plus a small tea kettle. Shagratork has one very similar to that. So, at one time, Trangia did offer the 27 in more versions than they do now, and some of them only had one pot and the lid. I think the smaller kettle should fit yours, too, but unfortunately, don't have time to dig mine out to measure it for you. If you can wait until next week, I can do so. Again, OUTSTANDING find, Sir!!! I dearly love it when a CCS Mate finds something as nice as your new Trangia 27, and especially so when the cost is only a single measley dollar!!! YAHOOOOOOOOO!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (who is VERY happy for your good fortune!!)
t27 if the ,9 kettle won't fit and by the looks of the windshield it's a newish one (hole for gas burner and the slotted cut out strap lugs, older ones were metal ones riveted on) and you have the inner pan as it has graduations, nice find the outer pans are cheap enough if you want the full set up
it will be even better if you take a file to those stupid bayonet fittings they use on the wind shields nowadays, bl**dy TUV nannies
Don't forget the local White Elephant sales and the Fund Raisers as well as the Chruch Sales and Thrift Stores my first Primus 96 complete in it's tin was priced at $2.00 Cheers' and happy hunting.....
What a bargain! As far as I'm aware they all had 2 pans. The small kettle will fit. I can get away with one pan & the kettle. The thing with the Trangia is you can upgrade the pans now you have the basic unit. My regular 27K has one duossal pan, a kettle & an old pan lid from another set instead of the frying pan. It is possible to get had anodised aluminium, non-stick, duossal & stainless steel. Basecamp do all the bits & pieces & ebay is also a good source. I have a few myself!
I cannot believe you can actually see some of the aluminium on those Ross they must be really special Si
Thanks to Ian I have one of the candle lanterns which seem to be rather rare. I still watch for a Trangia reflector oven. The red kettles are all that and a sandwich. Ross, you have a very nice Trangia collection.
Spiritburner Some if your kettles seem to be sitting lower , are you using a crosspiece rather than windshield supports?
