How do you resize Pdf files for posting?

Greetings, All,

Today, I had our local printer scan the instructions for several popular Coleman stoves, for which there are no instructions in the Reference Section. However, each Pdf file is around 3.4 MB in size! So, without ruining the quality and detail of the files, how do I make them proper for posting here at CCS? So far, I've not been able to locate a way to do this. You can resize using ADOBE ACROBAT or ACROBAT PRO but not ADOBE ACROBAT Reader. There is freeware on CNET's download.com site that resizes files. Good Luck! Stu Sanford

 

Be cautious using CNET, they've started including malware in their downloads...

 

Find the software on cnet then follow the link to the publisher and download from there.
Cnets downloader does include a tracker that does take a few photos of your pc and offer a few thinks to try and sell you but not much more. It can be called malware but its not THat bad.Watch out for the ask toolbar it always wants to install its not pretty but easily removed.

 

Hi Mark. One way of doing it is to just split the file into separate pages. You can do it using - www.splitpdf.com/

Is each page of instruction a 3.4 MB file, Doc, or each set of instruction pages?

 

I have been using Picassa lately. So, I tried what they say.
I did a 'Screen Capture' -- ALT - Print Screen.
Then I cropped the image and saved it.
It was still too big, but when I did the 'Export Picture to Folder' action, I could save it as a smaller file.
It worked, but I am not sure about the uses here, as for reading these informative documents.

PDF's can be opened in many photo apps - certainly Photoshop & it's lite sibling Elements. Also Gimp.
If it's multipage you get a page selector come up when you try to open it. You can then resize, optimiuse, edit etc & save the result as a jpg. 99% of material I post is PDF to start with.

Or you can send them to me & I'll do it.
