Just started, at last, on my first Hurlux, soaked the tin in vinegar and started getting rid of the rust and white paint.
It looks as though it may have been originally painted Matt green.
    Would this be a standard?
Also would a military issue one be mat or bronze green?
Which leads to the next thought would civilian be unpainted?
    Thanks in advance

Bring out your Hurlocks @Surveyor . Hi, from reading this thread army issue ones were late 1944 army green and civilian ones were silver frost. By the way they are Hurlock's not hurlux.

Hurlux might have been the name of the contemporary lantern, which was never made!
