Your photos show that your blowlamps actually move as a herd ( you have all heard of the collective, 'a herd of blowlamps').
They obviously surround non-blowlamp brass items and destroy them.
Send the photos to the BBC - they could be the next protagonists in Doctor Who.

I have a max Sievert petrol blowlamp on a shelf in the bedroom and a Primus paraffin one somewhere in the garage. No way am I leaving the two alone together.....
I used the Sievert to fix my Optimus 00.

Stop being a big wuss !

Pot a dowel in the riser tube, invert the tank, apply heat evenly and realign the riser with the dowel if need be. They have flanges on them, so it shouldn't drop out.

The solder should run to the lowest point and there's a good chance the leak will be sealed and the riser firmed up.

What can you lose ? Can't be worse than what you have now

If you don't have a go why did you buy the very nice blowie the other day ?

Otherwise send it to Nick !

Ah, but you see I can't, 'cause the burner is stuck hard on the riser. It was when I tried to unscrew the burner, that I noticed the 'play' in the riser at the tank joint!

Even better you can straighten things up when holding the burner head - with a thick glove.

Try it without any more solder etc., just re-melt what is already there, might work if it's upside down. Nothing to lose.

. . . . . . but don't do it after drinking . . . . . mind you, you can't as some bugger spilt your pint

I've read that you should put some water in the tank when soldering, but if I do that and turn the stove upside down, will the water not sit near where I'm trying to melt the solder and act as a heat sink ?

Flush it out a few times, then leave to dry in hot Italian sun 8)

Should be safe as long as it's only been used for paraffin and nothing more volatile

In that case you will not be able to increase heat above 100 centi degree which is unadequate to melt solder.

The thinking is that the parts of the stove below the level of the water, in this case; legs & pump wil not increase in temp above 100?C and thus will not fall off, whilst that above the water level ie. top of riser tube can increase above 100?C so that solder will melt. I t worked for me when I did a similar repair on a Pri. No. 1.
