    Morning, Gary,

Great tips, all! Back when we did the first 850 miles of the PCT, we ate meals we home dehydrated, and they were excellent! We used a similar method to the one used by your canoeing friends: Put the basics into a Nalgene bottle, with water, in the morning, and by the time for dinner, it was ready to heat and eat! No muss, no fuss, just outstanding fare, and quick preparation. A few years ago, we made a batch of tomato leather, and it was also excellent. Peel off what you need, add it to the water, and put the noodles in there, too. Then, when ready to cook, fire up the stove, put the goods into a pot with more water (if needed), and pretty soon, you've got some outstanding pasta, with very tasty sauce. You could add some home-jerked meat, too, if you wanted, when you initially put the goodies into the Nalgene bottle. It, too, will rehydrate a good bit during the day, and then whilst cooking up, quickly soften and be ready to eat. Tasty fare, for sure. We'll have to drag the dehydrator out of the Hobbit Hole, and see what new goodies we can create for some future trips. Thanks, again, for the tips, and most especially the one about the albacore steaks in a packet. We have never tried them, but reading your comments was like a "Duh" moment, and I wondered why we didn't think of it earlier. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Mark
