Greetings, All, CCS Mate, Kerry, sent me some of the special pump buckets that he made, for testing, and due to work demands, I've only just had time for taking care of that enjoyable task!! Kerry, my humble apology for it taking to long to get to it. I have to say, though, that I enjoyed this, very much! I have a 111T that came to be via parts I bought at different times, and I've long detested the o-ring pump bucket setup. So, this was a fine candidate to test Kerry's buckets!! After some initial missteps, today's test was fantastically successful, I'm happy to report!! Here are some photos of the process, and the result!! And, by the way, I used a long 6mm socket to set the ring that holds these buckets firmly in the already milled recess in the shaft. Doing it this way made setting the snap ring quite easy. As you can see from the photos, this stove has a lovely blue flame, powered by pressure from Kerry's excellent pump bucket!! For anyone who really dislikes the O-ring pump gaskets on the later 111T stoves, I can heartily recommend replacing it with Kerry's retrofit pump buckets!! Once in place, it's easy-peasy to pump up a nice bit of pressure in the fuel tank, and that makes this stove well worth using. Before Kerry sent me his buckets to test, I'd been keeping an eye out for an early pump rod, with leather bucket, so I could replace the O-ring that came with this stove originally. Now, thanks to Kerry's pump buckets, I can stop looking, and begin actually using this stove again!! Thanks, Kerry, and HUZZAH for a job very well done!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
G,,day Doc thank you for the glowing report and the excellent photos and thanks again Ken. cheers kerry
I can only echo Doc's judgement! This product is outstanding... My prototype version still well exceed what I once dreamt of when we first discussed this idea. Thanks Kerry for making it happen in the real world and not just in my mind! /Odd PS. Doc, you can get a really nice wind-shield for that T here I have one on the Optimus 00R AfterBurner and I built last autumn...
Hey, Kerry, You are most welcome, and as you know, I call them as I see them, my friend!! Your skills earned the good reviews, and I thank you for asking me to join those who tested this for you. I'm very happy with your pump buckets, and am considering adding one to my recently bought Annby 747 Korean stove, too, to replace the O-ring setup on that stove. Odd, thanks for your thoughts on that Korean windscreen you linked. I've seen those before, but wanted to try and find an original windscreen, if I could. So far, no luck in doing that, however. I believe that the seller of those windscreens as you linked, is the same Gentleman from whom I got the Annby, just recently. Thanks, again, for the positive comments on this windscreen, and I may have to order one for this 111T. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Greetings, All, I posted this in the Stove Reference Gallery, already, but thought it fit in here nicely, too. So, if you missed it in the SRG, here it is again. Thanks, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc Evening, Friends, Well, I decided to give one of Kerry's retro pump buckets and try on the Annby, and guess what? It appears to work very well, indeed! Of course, I've still not added fuel, beyond the sips that were still in the tank when this stove was sent to me. But, nice slow pumping yields a very nice pressure inside the font, and I think it far surpasses the O-ring setup that came with the stove originally. I'll test both systems further in the future, and see if there is, indeed, a huge improvement with the leather pump bucket. But, first impressions are that this is a great retrofit! Here are the original Annby parts, as I removed them from the pump rod. And, here is one of Kerry's excellent pump bucket retrofits. I wondered if, once the snap ring of Kerry's set was seated, it would be good to replace the original small circlip, and decided to do that, just to see. Seemed to work quite nicely, though I'm not certain that the extra circlip is necessary. Still, it does seem to keep things from flopping around on the rod, which seems a bit smaller than a regular Optimus/Primus rod. Here it is ready to insert into the pump tube and test. As already written, it worked a treat!! When time permits, I'll fuel this stove, and compare the two systems, O-ring vs leather pump bucket, to see if such a test confirms what I already suspect, which is the the leather pump bucket in Kerry's retrofit set is better in all respects. Thanks for checking it out, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
