This posting yesterday of a Primus branded No 8R made me connect the dots. Another post starting out with a Primus branded No 8R you will find here. I cannot say for sure, but perhaps the maker and the seller of the new lipsticks frequents this same establishment. There is a café mentioned in the label I added in one of the pictures above. Stove interest is Global for sure – how wonderful is that? All the best, e
Got my korean today. Works fine but: - maybe he made the jet 0.254 because he used a worn out lipstick as the template? - the supplied mesh is quite dense, in the middle an "original" that came With a stove, at the bottom a mesh from @kerophile
I have like @tofta been struggeling in communicating With the seller concerning why he did make the jet 0.254 vs 0.23. His reply today: "This item was designed original UNICUS nozzle. Never made by Primus or Optimus. We did not copy any original Primus or Optimus nozzle. We will keep make M8 thread on this item" I have no knowledge about the UNICUS jets. Could someone enlighten me? Are such jets avaliable? Best - Haavar
Juliands rep told me there are three companies making jets for stoves these days. The old Primus 123 / 00 etc. style. None of them make .023 size. I assume not enough demand. I have been considering the syringe modification and I think I may try shimming the burner bell so it will sit higher so the distance from orifice to spreader is more like the lipstick. Maybe the Unicus jet height and .025 orifice is a combination the 96 does not like.
Just an FYI. It helps to add "Inch" or "MM" to clarify the dimensional accuracy. Some of us know what you mean, others may not. This is an international multi-dimensional (pun intended) forum. Ken in NC
Noted :-) "The U.S. is a multi-lingual country, in its measurement units as well as its language. The rest of the world, however, uses one language for measurement, and that is metric. This makes the U.S. the only industrialized country that has not standardized on this system, even though it has had over 200 years in which to join the rest of the world."
My bad @snwcmpr So others know that statement is an acknowledgement of an error. It can also denote that an endeavor will be made to not duplicate the error.
Vaporizer tube has had the Korean supplied mesh removed. Tube has 3/8” Fiberglas rope inserted full length. Flow has been impeded and stove is somewhat anemic however it is blue. Don’t know how a “new” 96 flame was like but this is an option. You could try trimming the rope shorter in increments until what one is willing to accept. Stop gap yes but it seems to work.
Not a bad. I was just making a minor point. Brevity of my writing makes it seem more of an attack, not intended.
Still confused about the UNICUS thing. It could be that UNICUS is the name of a/the Korean manufacturer, or is he referring to the replaceable jet alone, being made by some other UNICUS like http://www.unicusindia.com?
Just received mine today. Double preheat then triple produced a flame that flared up on a regular basis not good! I took out the mesh and replaced it with the mesh from an original lippy and hey presto all seems fine nice blue flame as far as I can see and no flaring. The mesh that came with it is incredible fine and retains fuel easily . Maybe it’s too fine? Cheers Nick
