Jeff: The second adapter performs the same function (bayonet to threaded) but is not as nice as the Kovea one. I purchased a couple of the Plus2City bayonet-to-threaded adapters. Only one worked properly; the other leaked. I requested a replacement. The replacement leaked too. I do not recommend the Plus2City bayonet-to-threaded adapters. I haven't used the Kovea one a lot, but so far it's a good bit of kit. The first adapter, what is that? I just looks like an extension, is that correct? It looks like standard threaded in and standard threaded out, yes? HJ
Hi Jim I was trying to refer to how the adapter connects to the fuel line, not how the adapter connects to the canister. Dan
Oh, sorry. The adapter connects to stoves or fuel lines via a standard 7/16" UNEF threaded connector. HJ

The first adapter would allow you to get some stoves that won't fit on to the Kovea adapter to work, but other than that I can't see why they make them. HJ
The adapter was around before the Kovea adapter. I think they made it to allow some stove to use standard lp carts. Who knows. Henrik used it to make a few neat adapters to refill lp carts. Jeff
It may be for stoves that extend down on the canister, like the JetBoil, so with an extension adapter you may use them on bigger/wider canisters?

Found this post too late. I picked up one of the Plus2City butane adapters. It was a total piece of crap. Not only did it leak, it caused a fire and burned my hand. The whole damn thing was a ball of fire, sizzling in the garage as the butane can was cooking off. I tossed it and the stove into the drive way and hosed it down with a fire extinguisher. So this crappy adapter left me with a hand covered in blisters and red skin, burned hair all up my arm, and cost me a $35 fire extinguisher. There's no reason these people should be selling them. Someone is going to get killed. I told them that. I said, "You need to quit selling these. They are going to kill someone. They leak and are dangerous." They don't care. Unfortunately, it is yet another example of crappy Chinese stuff that is hurting people. There are good manufacturers in China, but they are overshadowed by the crapola products that hurt or maim people.
Hey urbanmedic, sorry to hear about what happened. Thank goodness it was nothing far worse. It almost happened to me but not because of the one you bought but similar connector for butane. Thats why I always do a bubble test on new equipment that works with liquefied gas. I was about to buy one but read hikinjim's review and decided not to get one. The kobea adaptor was better designed to grip the butane canisters. I do experiment on modifications and as such I err on the side of safety and caution before lighting up the stove. Ron
My Kovea adapter arrived from Korea today. This time, I had fire retardant gloves, an extinguisher ready. No kidding on that either. I also pressure tested it under water with the butane can attached. No leaks. The adapter is a bit snug, but fits just fine on an Omnifuel. I recommend this item. It works, didn't leak, and I didn't get burned.
