Hi @Blackdog i am happy to hear you got your MG floorpan sorted, its easily done i suppose in our excitement and haste to do things. I at first searched on line for some brass tube that would fit nicely, but the internal diameter i either to small or far too large, i have some brass plate i will try a fashion it from. Years ago i bout a Optimus111 with silent burner that came without a windshield, which i ended up making from sheet brass, but after i rolled it in to a cylinder shape i tried brazing the the joint but the heat cause expansion and the joint pulled apart, so i ended up remaking another with a folded seam to joint it but it leaves a spine. I have been thinking hard on this and i have a plan in tackling this, if it works or not i will post it in the fettling forum in full details, hopefully i get it done sometime next week. And thanks for pointing out, that it's all part of it's evolving history, that has cheered me up about this even though it wont be original piece if i can get it to look as close to the original i will be happy
I like your thinking but the thought of the fuel and stove rattling around in a mess tin just doesnt do it for me I'm afraid. I use an 111B at the moment as my go to stove, but I am attracted by the small size and weight of the 8.
Send the stove back. Can't fix coffee or tea with the sticker, working examples pop up quite often, at least in the USA. I just got yet another 8R for around 67USD, not the best example but works great. Duane
