Hi folks, Looking for the dimensions of a Monitor 78 flame ring. I have been given a burner minus the ring and would like to put it to use. O/D is approx 95mm in case I have the model number incorrect. Alec.

I believe that this is the burner from a Monitor heavy duty, No. 78 stove: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/11406 I have it fitted to a Primus no.85, just to be different. It is currently fitted with an improvised stainless steel windshield. You can come and see it if you wish. Regards, George.

I am sure I posted the Monitor flame shots in 2007, which was when I last fired it up, but here it is again. A closer look into the inferno.
There is nothing to be ashamed of with your drawing and lettering skills on that drawing, Shagratork. Top notch work. Thank you providing it. I am going to guess that the taper of the cast iron cylinder was for ease in casting and may not have any necessity for proper function. But, Stu (loco7stove) would likely be better qualified to speak on that as my casting experience is a bit out-of-date (out-of-memory is actually more accurate). I enjoyed this thread.
Hi Trevor, since you have shown yours I will have to show mine: This Monitor burner is the same as yours but is mounted on a Primus 85 tank. I enjoyed your technical drawing. It had all the information I need to make a proper flame ring. Best Regards, George.
Hi Alec You might consider making your flame tubes from exhaust pipe. You can get most standard sizes off the web, larger ones Link You can get someone to make them up for you.

Although the flame ring is cast with a tapering thickness, any steel tube with an inside diameter of 3 inches will do. A visit to the local scrap metal merchant would seem a good idea.
My space rocket works happily with a piece of 3mm thick tubing (not that I light it that much, fuel consumption is rather high... ). An original cast one would be nice, but is not a necessity really. Best regards, Wim
