The instruction booklet says to lube it and a tube of lube is included with the stove. On a side note. I bought a new pump to replace the broken one for my Whisperlite. Just for fun I took the old one apart to see if any of the parts needed to be saved for spares. The only parts from the old one that fit the new one were the O ring in the fuel delivery port and the PUMP BUCKET! That's right, the leather pump bucket from the old pump will interchange with the rubber one from the new generation of pump.
