nice stove--it should last many years..the only "problem" with stoves like that are they seem so easy to use that sometimes going back to a classic is a tough choice..my 123 went by the wayside for many years in favor of a Peak Feather.
it is brand new, i traded an old coleman lantern for it. the instructions say it is for kerosene and coleman fuel, but i have heard of some that burn pump gas? i would never try it, but i was wondering about it. But i think i like my 508 better that this one. i cant exactly say why, but i guess i just like the retro look but i will definitely use this one for day hikes with my sons.
Good trade. I agree it does not have that visual appeal but it is a good stove and the one I have simmers better than any other stove I have -- and still can put out a lot of heat when needed. It is made to use regular gasoline but I suspect mostly that means the inside of the steel font is coated to prevent corrosion. Kerosene works well with the other generator, but I think Coelman fuel has its advantages in ease of use since the stove is not really made for easy generator priming (a gel works well). Also, mine seems to smell a bit when it burns kero unless I dilute it with a bit of coleman fuel,but that could be particular to the one I have. What ever you choose, it will serve you well.
