    Hi, Mark,

Thanks for your kind remarks. It's a fun little stove with a very interesting design. I'm still "digesting" my acquisition. I'll be very interested in people's observations regarding the stove at CASG3.

I'm a little sleepy right now from staying up late to take and then post photos as well as read the instructions, but even sleepy, I'm pretty excited about the stove.

Speaking of instructions, I found the supplemental instructions very interesting. It appears that the supplemental instructions were written by the army not MSR. The supplemental instructions seem to have been written by a person or persons with practical working knowledge of the stove. The supplemental instructions list things to watch out for and include a photo of a stove damaged by excessive heat feedback.

BTW, I've just added captions to all the photos.

Lastly, here's a photo only a stovie can appreciate:

Wow there is our flame shot! :) Outstanding work Jim!

An interesting stove. Looks to be a real roarer from that flame shot. I don't know if the Svea 123 pot would handle it.

    cheers,
    Jeff

Aye, she looks to be a roarer all right.

The flame shot in the supplemental instructions shows a really strong looking flame.

    Hi HJ,

That is a really neat stove! I can't believe how small it is! What a hot little number that is. OK, now I want two of those!

    That is so awesome!

Yeah, protect that stove from all those tempters of evil! :p :p But then again, resistance is futile... ;) :p ;)

    Thanks for sharing!

    WOW.

At last one of our number owns the fabled stove.

I offically believe it exists now.

    CONGRATS!!!!

Hi, Sam, yes it is quite petite. MSR has a pretty good design in terms of packing. The pot support assembly pops off and then snaps upside down over the body of the stove for storage.

Pot support assembly upright with pot supports extended vs. pot support assembly upside down with pot supports folded:

HJ, its soooooo....small. Wish you could put it side by side with a 123 so we can see the sized difference. Congratulations again on your rare acquisition and hope to see it first hand on CA3

This isn't the world's best photo, but:

And here's a photo with a Svea 123 cup on top of the CFV stove:

Just to help clarify PEO means Program Executive Office, might not even be in use anymore, but it was one of the redesignations used by the military.

    Did anymore surface at all?

I vaguely remember following this at the time, and it does seem to have been a viable stove. Without gov funding the CFV principle seems to have died a death.

I found one for 'relative' pennies.
The prices on ebay have been crazy.
