Well.....I got some fun to look forward to today... I'm glad the fettlebox had the seals for it...I have no idea what I'm in store for but everything moves freely and it even came with a little gas in it hahaha
Ok so there is no simmer on this... It's like on ..or off...and does it always take like 2 minutes to slowly burn off the fuel? It's heavy as hell.... It had old gas in it but not rotten...cleaned it out and put fresh fuel...
I saw that earlier, so wondered about that. The Coleman genny goes over the burner, so I can see why the Coleman might keep burner going for a bit after shutdown. Duane
It's a British Army NO 2 stove. The control valve is under the tank and yes it is either on or off. Now you can make a simmer plate so your food doesn't burn. This stove is very reliable. Cheers, Norman
Nice purchase you made there. Does look to be very solid and in very good condition. Always liked the way that low single was designed with windscreen always ready. two minutes does seem excessively long for shut down. Have no knowledge about stove but thinking it has tapered metal to metal shut off that maybe can be checked and cleaned up a bit? Also might not need so much pressure for cooking since only run on high. Enjoy your new stove.
@hikerduane Yeah its weird but interesting. The weird thing is that when I had it out of the case when I shut it off it ran for a little bit longer than I am used to...but I can see with that long fuel tube under it why it would do that. When I tilted the burner downward to the ground you could hear a loud hiss as more fuel moved to the jet. It shuts off...just after a few minutes @teckguy_58 Thats correct! I had a question out there before I purchased it but I never got an answer to that (can you adjust the flame on a number 2) but I figured it out when I got it fueled up. I picked this one as if I got the modified one I hear that those have issues with the burner cap being stuck on and needing to be pried off and the design of the burner is not the best...seen videos where people are taking the burner apart and fixing things by widening holes and such...nah...I read these unmodified ones run really well right out of the box so I went with that. @Daryl thanks man! Its hmmmmm.....its like the size of your single burner coleman you made but with a smaller tank and that its more compact to pack up as it moves in and out like a drawer. The burner cap is HUGE...Photos do not do it justice, I will need to take a photo of it next to something else familiar so you can see it. Basically the valve and valve tube run under the tank...and the rod itself is like a huge hat pin/ice pick with a tapered end on it. Today I am going to take the pin out again and try some pipe cleaners but I did clean up the rod a bit...it was not coaked up or gummed up...it was already clean. Like you I have never even seen one of these before in real life...I am going at it blind but it does work well! I have no idea how many pumps to start with but I am thinking of starting a lot lower. I was beginning my tests at half tank full (or what I think would be half) and about 30 pumps. I think that is excessive as I had high flames. I did notice that it did not puff puff puff when running...it was a nice consistent high blue flame.
I had been interested in something like this, but see they have a number of parts/tools, so never took the leap, not knowing if all parts were with the stove. I would have needed someone to point one out to me, too many stoves now anyway. Duane
@hikerduane I dont know much about them but this one is complete. I can tank photos of each part if you like as there are not many here in the forum like that. Believe me I have been scouring looking for parts. BTW just did a lower pump count (8 exactly) and I got what would say would be a Coleman 425 on high type flame. Nice and blue, but man...it has two settings...on and off. haha I would delegate this to flash boiling things like potatoes or pasta...something that needs to be done boiled fast

Boy that is a big burner, thanks! Knowing you when you are going to try swapping out other burners? Good with the lower pump count. Have found Enders, 111's will spit fuel at jet with just a couple pumps and couple more when it gets burning. Picture with size comparisons are great or something as simple as a ruler or HxWxL works for us non aero engineer types. ha ha. May be pricey stoves but on plus side don't take up much room. thanks again Maybe a heat defuser will tame it down. Flop the windscreen back or may see some paint scorching. The silver one came from target.
@Daryl To be honest unless I am doing something wrong this stove is kind a pig on fuel. I just ran it to make coffee and it started to die off...so I pumped it and it went out. Looking in the tank..she is empty. I just filled it...I am going to have to do a test and see how long it last on a measured amount of fuel...but it seems to burn through it quickly.
