I am new to stoves and I just got my first one from ebay. I want to fire it up but I am unsure how it works or what kind of fuel. it is a SIGG TOURIST with SVEA 123 Camping Stove. Thank you for any help.
Use Coleman fuel. Sunnyside, Crown, and MSR make a similar product. Typically in the US, these are referred to as "white gasoline" or "white gas" although these really ought to be referred to as "camping gasoline". You can also find in Amish areas true white gasoline (automotive gasoline without any additives). You could also use Naphtha which you can get from a hardware store, but Coleman Fuel is usually cheap and readily available, so that's what I always use. Walmart is typically the cheapest place to get it. HJ

Check the cap seal, as It's probably bad. See Link , this is rebuilding another stove, but they are the same bits, just arranged differently...
Thanks for the great information guys. I thought that was the fuel it needed but wanted to make sure. I came to this through my military collecting and buying a M1950 and the stumbling into it on ebay, and fell I love with these things. I got the stove asked about for $91 on ebay for the burner and all the pans. I will post pictures later. I also got a lantern stove combo which by photo page on here found one that is the same but a different color called an Adams. I got it for $30 I don't know if they were go price to pay but I will learn as I move forward in my new hobby/collecting.

It's a bottomless pit, collecting all those different stoves. You are lost now, between the 123 and eBay, you're in for it now. I was down to only wanting one more stove over a month ago. Four more stoves later, I still want one more stove. Duane
LOL Ya I know how it is. I got a surplus gun once because I thought it was neat looking and now 673 guns later they are still neat. My wife absolutely hates the color green because of my military collection but most of all the six surplus army trucks I have, and the guys on that forum said the same thing "Your doomed with green fever" and they were right.The thing that sucks about ebay now and will get me in trouble is the bill me later deal. The thing I like about the stove is they are like the guns. I can say oh ya I have had that for a long time you remember I showed it to you that one time. Its hard to do that with a big green army truck.
The Sigg kit with Svea 123 is the best ol' backpacking outfit around. I've never packed overnight without it for years. You are in luck to score one!

Ok so I put the new cap on and now when I pump it up fuel leaked out from the on off valve. Am I pumping it up to much because upon taking the valve part I didn't see any sort of O ring or gasket?
Usually you can simply use the key/wrench to tighten the packing nut at the valve and all is ok. If you're using a pump, it should just take very few pumps. Like 2 or 3. I don't believe you can over pressurize with a mini pump, others will chime in soon. Always make sure the valve is off before you pump. Mike
