I scored this nice stove over the weekend at my local military swap meet, I was wondering if anybody could give me some info as to a possible date of the stove and if was used by the military. It is a nice OD color wich is correct for WW2. I took it apart and cleaned it out and got it working a little it needs some more tlc. It's an Auto Cook Kit Model# 208 a Preway Product made by Prentiss Wabers Products Co. Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. U.S.A. any info would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance Dean
Wow! I have a lot of PW stuff but I have never seen one quite like that. Good score. What I can tell you you've probably figured out. The right hand knob on the tank is for pre-heating. Open it up all the way, then open the control valve, light the stove, then close the right hand knob after the flame settles down. You may find that these run nicer than Coleman suitcase stoves.
Dean, don't know when it was born, but I love those feet on the stove - looks like it's very stable Got some pics of it running ? Tom
There is a Prentiss Wabers 3 burner about half way down on this page from Terrance Marsh's website. The 3 burner has the same unusual routing of the fuel line on the outside of the stove. It states that the stove is probably pre-1934. Nice stove! http://terrence.marsh.faculty.noctrl.edu/lantern/stovepz.html Edit- Oooo It has the same feet too!
thanks for all the great info. i still need to clean it better as the flame has lots of yellow and it seems to loose pressure, but i'm working on it when i get it running good i'll post pix of it doing it's thing dean
Sweet! One of the few P-W's I've yet to score.....all in good time..I believe we have six or seven different Prentiss-Wabers/Preways and always lookin for more, haha.
