looks like I'm not going to make it on the Saturday - the weekend clashes with our grand-daughter's 9th birthday & I've been drafted into taking her out for the day - Crich tramway or the Leicester Space Centre have both been mentioned. If I can make Saturday evening I will otherwise it will have to be the Sunday only. What time do things wind down & everybody hits the road home?

    Paul.

@Paraffinhead Paul, Newark would be a day to remember for a 9th Birthday, we'll make a cake and she can make her own pizza in the eve, what's not to like. And Newark is a great place to wander around, even for kids, there's even a Castle....

Sunday winds down very slowly which generally depends on jollities in the Fettlers arms the previous eve. Midday you'll find survivors still wandering about. :D

Unfortunately the little 'un is off on hols with mum on Sunday so that's not an option. If I can possibly make it on Saturday I will. It's about a 30 minute drive from home once we are back so not exactly a big effort required, just got to chuck the camping eqpt in the car with lamps and stoves. Hopefully the natives are friendly and welcoming - be gentle, it's my first time ;-)

I am very sorry to say that I will probably not be attending Newark this year.
I have heath issues that make it very difficult.
    This distresses me a lot.
The final decision is not yet met.
Newark is usually the hightlight of my year.

Looks like we are regretfully going to have to give this year a miss also.
Health is not good and to add more hassle, my motorbility car has just been changed and I have no tow bracket. As it's a new (lease car), they don't have the correct one in the country yet and no date for when. I don't fancy pulling the van over to Newark!
I have had a ctscan, blood tests, repository clinic check and Audiology. Fibro flair followed. At the moment I am getting less then two hours sleep a night.
We both look forward to the friendship and banter and will miss this year dearly.

Better get the Biolite charged, see how the new solar panel does.

6 days and counting for us.

I'll have to check fuel levels.......lots of bits to choose again.

Hi Ken, hopefully this link works for you.

    Auto XS Solar Battery Maintainer

Car camping only, if I get time I'll try and get a pic with the Biolite connected.

Why connect to the BioLite? Are they not both power generators?
    They both have batteries, too.

Ken, the Mk 1 only has a rechargeable battery, no TEG, if you remember. Probably enough for 2 - 3 days at a guess. My Biolite is in hiding somewhere, I'll have to hunt it down for Newark next week so pics idc.

It’s the turquoise-coloured ‘Cookstove’ that has no TEG. The Mk 1 has a TEG but with a feeble output compared to the Mk 2 and with a smaller capacity rechargeable battery than Cookstove or Mk 2. That said, all three Biolite versions can have their batteries externally charged when required.

Apologies, yes the 'Cookstove'. I wasn't totally convinced when I wrote it to be honest as I remembered there was an improved version.

Also distracted with a broken rotor arm. :(

    Ok, I see.
Biolite 'Cookstove' does require a charge.
You hope to charge the Cookstove with the Aldi solar charger.
    Got it.

A hugely impractical combination I'll agree, not least because the panel doesn't output to USB as is. :D

Without an adapter then the you need a vehicle, which battery the panel was intended to charge, and you can then charge the Biolite from the vehicle using an appropriate USB plug in your vehicles power socket. Other solutions are, of course, possible.

I think it IS practical. I was just clarifying.

With Biolite TEG technology I do not understand them NOT putting a charger with all of their products.
