Is that only CCS people?
They allow both kinds...
Oh no, lamp people too????
Ok, I meant them also.
I will see you Saturday morning.
Lampies are handy, even if only so you can find your way to the toilets at 2am.
The downside is they have to rely on the stovies for food, which is why most look thin, wan and pale.
It's currently about 2 Deg warmer here than in the rest of the UK, probably visible on IR via some satellite.
I do hope that you all have a fine time.
We will have to see if we can do a live feed from there some time.
I got back from Newark this evening.
The weather was great and there were many 'old' faces and lots of new faces.
I did not see everyone. I spent a lot of time with old freiends, chatting about what has happened since the last Newark.
I spent a lot of time with @kev_c from whom you will see very few posts on CCS. But as well as Ross he gas attended every event since they first started, which is one more than me.
Glad it has all gone well. Sat here frustrated as not been able to do anything. The vertigo is going but slowly.
Here is a vid I made last year of the Biolite:
It was great to see everyone again and the weather was excellent which all added up to a very enjoyable 4 nights away.
Another excellent Newark gathering. Friends I know well from previous meets and plenty of new friends too including @williethesteam and his amazing collection of (mostly) lamps but stoves too, including a SupremOil which I attempted to fettle - got a flame of sorts after much priming but more to do - and why design a NRV where the two main components are joined by a left-hand thread?!!!
Thanks Ross for another great event.
Something really special for me personally, Sarah @Simes baked a cake for me on a Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service theme. Partly welcome but OTT thanks for a minor repair I did for Simes’ the kettle at Newark last year, partly recognition for Fire and Rescue Services (I related something HERE of Lancs Fire’s efforts putting out a wildfire last summer) and (I think?) my 68th birthday came round a couple of weeks ago. Thank you so much Sarah and Simon - the cake tastes delicious by the way.
The creator of the masterpiece, Sarah.
The very grateful recipient.
Some classic old-timers from @igh371 Outstanding, Ian!
My personal favourite - exquisite detailing, exuberance and pride in their product.
My ‘light show’ (very modest compared to some!) a mix of kerosene pressure lanterns, kerosene wick lanterns and some acetylene (carbide) lanterns and the Dargue lamp.
Spectacular sky over the Newark 2019 campsite.
... oh, and at its best when night fell at Newark and the burner flame pattern could be seen to its best effect was my Lawson stove.
Very nice. Nice cake.
Old stoves = awesome.
Stunning. All of it.
Roll on next year!!
Great weekend! I managed to avoid most of the rain just catching some this morning when packing up. Great craic, seen some new things, met some new faces.
Thanks to all that took part to make it a great relaxing weekend. Here's a load of pics I took.
It looks like you all had a great time.
It's quite daunting to go along to something like this meet for the first time but I had a great time in the few hours I spent with you all, made to feel very welcome by Sarah, Trevor (Shagratork) and Jeremy amongst others. Will definitely be there next year for the weekend with lamps stoves and blowtorches too. Got a nice Primus 96 from Simes and a Radius 5s in fabulous condition so didn't go home empty handed. I did make a huge mistake in drinking all the beer I brought (and two of Sarah's cucumber G+Ts) after having little more than a can of pop all day previously and forgot the missus was picking me up again! If I dashed of without saying goodbye it was only so you couldn't hear the yelling coming down the phone
I'm off the naughty step now though.
Another brilliant weekend, and we didn't have a thunder storm this year , my mate Claire (who came with me and @Simes) had a good time and thoroughly enjoyed herself, she's even thinking of coming next year!! Fiona and her other half enjoyed it too. I think the pizzas went down well too, a massive thank you to all who donated we raised £155.00 for Prostate Cancer UK. @presscall I'm glad you liked the cake , @Paraffinhead was nice to meet you and glad you enjoyed the G&Ts.
@Spiritburner thanks for organising it, there maybe another cake next year, it was great seeing everyone xx
