Hi Bryan, I've had similar problems in the past like yours, I brought a cheep booster pack from maplins, the trick with these is to connect it to the flat battery and go away and have a cup of tea! Come back 15 mins later and it will start. It just needs a bit of time to share the charge on a very flat battery. I've done the same with jump cables as well, left the donor car running for ten minutes then off the engine goes.

Hi all - just heard from our hosts - there is another rally on the same field prior to our gathering. This may affect those of you going down early. They are going to try their best to accommodate you in the right area by roping an area off but you may have to move to the main area once the other rally has finished. We'll have to play it by ear a little bit. Please comply with the sites instructions.

there is a trend for car manufacturers to fit ever smaller batteries in hatchback type cars - i have been caught out twice - simply failing to shut a door fully will leave a warning light on the dashboard and that flats the tiny battery in about 30 hours flat
and the battery bay is too small to fit a decent sized battery
i am looking to buy a morris minor

Righto, point of no return reached today! Booked & paid my ferry crossing so I'll be there sometime on friday (depends wether I come straight to Newark or visit one or other place/museum/why on the way up there). I hope to see many of the "old" faces plus meet some "fresh" ones as well.

    All the best,

    Wim

    Hi Kev

It will be great to see you.
As everyone knows, I am a teetotaler, but I might break my rules and open a can with you.

Sadly I won't be there to share some Sloe gin in Shed-man's memory.
I hope those that are going get better weather than is forecast for later this weekend. Can't trust the long range forecast but I can see that Trevor is in for some Micky taking next week.
    Regards
    John

I hope the Newark Weekend went well. Rosemary tells me it has been gray, however not cold. There must be a Flaming June out there somewhere.

I am in Ndjamena just now. Most families have a 'Primus' type lamp as there are frequent power outages. There is still plenty of cooking done on various genuine and lookalike 'Primus' stoves. There is also a lot of charcoal and wood used of course.

One of the things I find when Rosemary and I use our stoves on my infrequent returns to England is that my leather pump washers have dried out and don't form a good pump seal. The kerosene in the stoves over a period of months drains out into the bottom of the plastic storage containers, however the most annoying thing is the pump washers drying out.

Still, there is always the Kelly Kettle!

    Regards,

    Mike Carmody
