Newark Gathering 9 -11 June 2017 - Official Announcement

Ah, well, OK. For a quick moment I thought you all were coming to Newark NJ. Then I read further. Well, if we ever do convene in NJ - everyone is invited to my place for dinner . Have a great time!

Be careful what you offer Johnny. I worked with a British Army Major in Germany. He was posted to Washington and at his farewell party said "If any of you are in Washington, you'll be welcome at our house".

9 months later, 8 of us had travelled from the UK to Arizona for a military exercise. At the end, the RAF, who are always good for a laugh, told us we would be picked up by C-130 from Dulles in 3 days time. We like a challenge. We drove the 2500 miles in an Avis minibus. But the flight was delayed 48 hours. Stuck for somewhere to stay, we remembered the good Major's offer. We stayed 2 days and drank all his beer and whisky (and he had a lot!). His wife was not best pleased.

Yes, it would be great to see you.
The 'official' dates are from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June.
However, members who do not have to be at work often arrive sometime in the days before the Friday.
I will be there on the Tuesday or the Wednesday.

Hiya Nick, looking fwd to seeing you again, last minute rush as usual I see.

We can only do Fri/Sat night this year as Sarah has to catch more viruses from the school kids.

 

To all of you lucky enough to be going, please take some time out in Bryan (kaw550red)'s memory.
@Spiritburner and @shagratork if you organize a formal toast in the fettler's arms or lamp and stove lighting in his honour please post the date and time here so that I can raise a glass to him at the same time.

I can assure you that many a glass will be raised in memory of Bryan.
However, your idea of setting a day and time for a more formal 'time out' so that others around the world can also raise a glass at the same time is an excellent idea.
Some of us will discuss it at Newark and then publish the details.

@shagratork. How about daybreak Sat morning, there were still a few about at that time in the Arms last year if memory serves.

 

I do seem to recall emerging to a rising sun .

 

There have been Optimus 111 firings, Tilley 246 group firings (fair lit up the site, that one), how about a mass firing of Primus 96's? Maybe Optimus 96's included, or any '96' type (Burmos for example)? Let out a collective roar as a salute to Bryan.

I could rustle up a half-dozen or so I daresay ...
