They were advertised as having most parts compatable with European moels & also meeting Maritime Insurance requirements - probably a market Coleman was weak in. Ask any Swedish stove manufacturer about details on production runs from the past & you will get no more detail than Evil. These stoves were also made during the WWII period & shipped to the UK as gifts from the American people - not sure they made the the trip across the Atlantic twice. These had the plain legs - the fancy ones came later. I know the real oldies made in the UK were stamped as such. I reckon it's just a design knock-off.
Lance, Quit stirring the pot you bugger. My stove says it was made in the USA and I believe it as such considering the era in which it was built. Thanks Ross. I don't see them shipping one way just to ship it back. The tooling and plans, yes, the stove, no. I think they were built in an attempt to capture the market the Swedes had just like Optimus tried to do with those crappy 300 series stoves to Coleman. Or I offer this, most of the EU countries at that time were used to those types of stoves, with the Marshall plan in full swing why not provide people with items they were at least accustomed to using. Not to mention fairly easy and cheap to make along with a proven and reliable design. Ross, I don't want to be an "Indian Giver" , but if you happen across one of those stamped as a gift can you get it for me. I have never seen one.
