Hi all, haven't posted much on here for a while but as I bought this one today then what better time. Unfortunately I didn't take any photo's before I started but I'm sure you know what a rusty old 111 looks like . Got a fair bit done today with all the stove cleaned up, might give the burner a clean out but it has a new jet and I don't think it's been used much. Stripped the case back to bare metal and sprayed in primer, although I think there may be some paint stripper seeping out from under the hinges where I couldn't clean it properly but I will re-paint as necessary. I think I will finish it in satin black, it's going to be a user so I'm not bothered about authenticity. Hope you like it, best regards Matt.
Looks great mike. Thats the kind of stove you can keep around for a user for sure. I like to find one myself. What about OD green color?

Hi Viscara, I did think about green, but I've already got the black paint in the shed from other projects. It'll match all the other bits and pieces i've re-done. Yonadav, You have to love that yellow . It's a filler primer, goes on thicker so you can rub it down and get a smoother finish. I don't know why it has to be that colour, it doesn't look good when some of the top paint comes off and reveals it underneath.
Nice shiny brass wind screen. Mine are all badly pitted steel. I have a case undergoing electrolysis as I type, but I probably won't get around to painting it until the weather warms a bit so it is certainly nice to see one in a more advanced state of rejuvenation.
I definitely prefer yellow over black. I do like it, and if it were mine, I'd stick a Beatles photo on top. Yonadav BTW, do you have a "before" photo? Waiting for flame shots!
Hi Matt, Lovely restoration! My feeling about restoring a stove is that either you go all the way to make it as it looked out of the factory or you make sure it is not confused with a NOS! I did a similar restoration. Yellow is the way to go! You will not misplace that stove. My111 . My restored 111 gets way to little use, but at least it gets to ride in the trunk of my car during winter. /Lars
Hi chaps, thanks for the kind words. I doubt it'll be staying this colour i'm afraid to say, it wouldn't look quite right when on display. Neither the primer nor the top paint are heat resistant. I have used the same paints on lamps that I have restored and haven't had any problems yet with heat. Although after seeing Lars and other 111's with a beer can in the bottom for protection, it gave me an idea as I have some 1mm aluminium sheet which I may place a piece in the base. Unfortunately I don't have a before photo, I always get carried away and by the time I think of taking a picture the paint has been stripped. I'll post a flame shot at some point, got to hunt around and find some more kero first. Hmmm there might still be some in the number 12....
Hi Matt great score and restoration, a fantastic praciticle stove the 111 is ,i am very fond of the three 111's I have. they are a rearly robust stove compact and give a very power full heat, ideal for most uses cvamping hiking and motorists. I am sure you are going to like your new 111 and I doubt it will be your last
Well here it is in all it's glory. I'm afraid it didn't stay yellow and has now got a nice black top coat. I think the combination of polished brass, chrome and the satin black case look really good. I'll let the paint harden for a few days before I try lighting it up all together.

Oh no, It'll just be eye candy on my shelf. Anyway I don't think anyone would be able to afford to buy it off me now.
