    Hey, Guys,

You've seen these before, but, what the heck. Here, you can see a few of my 8R's, and my one 8, alongside my one Russian 8R clone, a few 99's, some 199's, and two #10's.

And, here is a nice 8R, with a very healthy flame, next to a nice 99, which is good, but not quite AS good, as the 8R!

Wonderful stoves, all in all, and one of my most favorite designs! I once had the temerity to suggest that the 8R was the most convenient stove to use, period, but not all CCS members agreed with me. I still think it's "open and use" design is very hard to beat, and that the 8R, despite the fact that it's not quite as powerful as a SVEA 123, and many other stoves, is one of the very best of the breed!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

I may diagree on many things Doc may say, but for Doc's practical sense of stove use, I have to agree wholeheartedly. One of the first thing I noticed while using 8R was, as Doc had the "temerity" of saying, its convenience. A similar comparison may be made to Enders Baby. Although it is a very cute and desirable stove that works very well, (I have two), it is rather cumbersome, especially when you are a bit tired after a long walk, or when it is a little too colder or hotter than you would feel comfortable. The other favorite, Primus 96, has loose parts, and I am afraid of losing its "impossible to find" parts--as I get older, I seem to forget things.

8R's clamshell design and quick priming ability, combined with the "everythings is connected" design makes it a winner. You do not lose its parts, or forget to pick up and leave the little, almost irreplaceable, part behind you, as in the case of other stoves aforementioned.

8R is what I grab, when I go out for a short hike.

    I wholeheartedly endorse his temerity.

hi i bought my 1st 99 a week ago wicked little stove,my 123 arrived today the 1st i have bought,i can't comment on it as the flame is lop sided needs a new jet,but i'm hoping it lives up to all the good write ups that i have read here,i also have bought my first 8r now its the long wait for the post, and i also grabbed one of those russian clones, again its in the post,i bought these after reading everything about them that i could find on this site,i must admit the 8r photo shoot was an eye opener, next purchase hopefully will be a 111 if the ebay god shows mercy on me. the more i read here the wider my eyes get, unfortunatley as my eyes get wider my pocket gets emptier,

has anyone used or do you own the petromax multifuel stove?,i used to have a 500cp petromax lantern and the stove has the same rapid lighter seems intresting

Hi, I don't have one of the the Geniol or Petromax stoves that you show the link to, but the general view of knowlegable CCS Members seems to be:

    Can't Recommend A Purchase

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile

 OK, I'm NOT a collector! Not compared to that, especialy KNOWING that Doc also has just as many (at least) Pressure stoves as well. BY comparison, I'm a traveler w/ a masochistic twich for carrying too many stoves
