Just added another stove to the stable, a nice Optimus 8R :D/ Not yet fired her up, but I have noticed that the jet hole is quite a lot bigger than the one on another I have :-k Both are from the same era, so I was wondering if the larger holed one was in fact for alcohol :?: Perhaps it has been swapped at some point in the past.....not sure whether I should use it with it being a white gas stove, or whether I should replace it for safety :?: Would there be any problem in using the larger holed jet :?: Thoughts please :-k

8r is white gas only. If the jet is large replace it. Try it first though it might be an ilusion making it look bigger

If you do not want to test it with white gas, you can get a good idea of the relative jet sizes by just removing them and looking though each at a light -- crude but effective.

Could it actually be an alcohol jet? Is there any marking on the jet?
If so, would it work? Would it need an air restrictor(sp?) like the 111T?
It would be a simple test to see if it works with alcohol. If not, I would imagine it would keep blowing itself out, right?

Dont know if a self pressurising stove will work with alcohol. Nothing to loose tho.
