    Hey Shampine,

Awesome score! Those are very good prices on the 123's. =D> May I suggest you expand your horizons and try a Trangia alcohol stove next. The Swedish Military kits are a great buy and will fuel (pun) your addiction.

    Cheers,

    Manny

Thanks Manny, Funny you should mention trangia,I have scored 4 of them at $5.99 each at a local gunshop. When will this end? Hopefully never!

    Take Care,

$5.99 is good on the Swedish army sets. Cheapest I've ever got 'em was $7.99.

If you're looking for a truly useful spirit stove, the Swedish Army burner used in a Sterno stove, particurlarly the newer version made of chromed steel wire and alumin(i)um sheet is a very good combination and weighs very little, 455g (1lb) The Swedish fuel bottle (filled) adds another 260 g (9 0z) This compares favorably with many stove / pot combos at considerably less cost.

Either Sportsman's Guide or Cheaper Than Dirt recently was selling the burners separately in lots of 6 or eight for very little money.

great! great !you're off to a good start! Have you ever considered a classic kero only design? The optimus/primus 96 type stove is really a fantastic model. Brother Ian has made an excellent video...

I bought a few sets back while ago, before the year 2000 from CTD. These kits, new unissued, sold for less than $4 then.

I used to use it often, before I discovered Optimus, Svea, and Primus.
