I found a Optimus 45 in my father’s garage. Left for a long time - I had never seen it run. Was about to fire it up when I realized the jet/nozzle was broken off. Anyone with an idea on how to get the remaining part out, so I can fit a new yet in there? Any good advice would be appreciated since I would love to get it roar again.
@Pelle My approach would be to get the whole burner (off the stove) up to a dull red heat with a blowtorch. That would burn away any deposits bonding the jet nipple stub’s threads to those in the burner. Cooled off, I’d use a thin oil (‘penetrating’ oil ideally) to lubricate the jet stub. A long, narrow (3mm) ‘flat’ bladed screwdriver would then be used to attempt to unscrew the jet stub, getting a purchase on the stub as well as possible. A fine-gauge screw extractor would be a refinement to do the same. John
They make angled double ended, dual type screw drivers also, which should fit in the space above the jet. Duane Ive had this style for years, has come in handy now and then. Might be a tight spot for an extractor bit, plus hard to exert pressure. Great Neck Offset Screwdriver | eBay
