    Optimus 99, the light brother.

I expect the 8 to be as good as this one

    Hello Kerophile,

Step 2, the color of your Optimus 8 is the original one or a personal choice?
Mine seems to have light Grey.

Do you recommend sandblasting my case?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards

Hi @kok. The steel case came from France, via my friend Tim. It was essentially fully stripped when I received it but there were traces of green paint, the colour of which I have tried to replicate.
I baked the case after partially dried to get a quicker and more complete cure.

The paint itself is a heat-resistant type (to around 200 deg. C), which I am trying out. The colour is British Racing Green.

I guess sand-blasting is as good as other preparation methods for this application.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Second one in place.
Not much space between the cap and the pot stand closing the box, but it works.
Next time it will be 3.5mm.

My box seems to be galvanized, maybe the way to go

Done, case sandblasted and nickel plated, painted (not so well)

    -sandblasting is brutal
-nickel plating is not a good idea, the steel is too flexible, the nickel not.

    -painting in winter is stupid.

I have many things to learn
