I have just purchased a couple of optimus stoves. One has 8R Made in Sweden on the lid and a round globe sticker on the lid and a carrying handle near the lid hinge and a bracket on the back of the stove to receive the burner when closed. The second type of stove seems to be exactly the same but lacks the stamping on the lid and has the remains of a rectangular sticker. It has no carrying handle and no bracket. Is it still an 8R or something else? Thank you in advance of your knowledgeable replies.
Hi Cabriolet76. Do these stoves look familiar? Internal Link; Russian clone and Optimus original Best Regards, Kerophile
Thanks for the replies, I have found a stove on ebay which has a sticker in the same place and is the same size and shape. stove is an 8R hunter. the number is 130217977527 if you want a look. Mine does not have the pump and has the noramal close/clean control knob.
I think they are both 8Rs, one is newer than the other. The russian stoves have a handle, but it is attached as part of the hinge, not so with the optimus. You may want to check if the caps are interchangable, if so, they are both probably optimus 8R as the russian has a slightly different thread.
yeah, the older one has the red "disk" regulator handle. Pre '65 I think? The newer ones have the 123R style reg key
