Thanks DOC if you could keep an eye open for me it would be GREAT!!!
    Looking forward to the Diagram.

    Rik
Thanks heaps but the Purple Flame has a Traingia Burner in it. The pot set looks the similar though.
Tried to find it on Aus Ebay but won't come up there.
Uk Ebay doesn't show up all the Aus Stoves either.
Has anyone found simialar or do I have to adjust some setting somewhere?

I would say Trangia style - it's taller than the Trangia, seemingly made of brass, and a fair bit heavier.

I believe that Leigh Marsden has a fair few left, and they are good bits of kit, excellent for the price, I only paid ?15 including postage ! Worth it for the pans alone :D

    Cheers

No news on the hose adapter.
I have 0.6 lt. fuel bottle and a pump assembly from an Optimus Nova stove which has a neat little fuel filter screwed into the collar of the pump. The Nova fiuel line clips into this with a clever locking system, but I am hoping to find a way of then attaching the other end of the fuel line to the burner of a 111T. Some type of an adapter will be needed, as I think the thread sizes don't match ! All in the future. First I have to try to get the 111T up and running ... another long fettle job :(

The meths restrictor is similarly at the end of a long finger !
If I ever manage to finish the fettle, the intention is to adapt the burner from the 111T to a Trangia wind shield and pan set, to create a Frankenstove Optimus Explorer n.11.
Check out the thread that Rik posted ... I like the idea a lot !!!!!

    High all
Catogan was right but I was thinking that with a plate over the holes in the bottom of the windscreen and a home-made burner I could have one of this type of set up.
The pots etc look the same but the frypan is differrent with no wrinkles of the botttom of it.
But I suppose I would have to use a real pan if I want to fry something anyway.
The idea of the frypan on top with the holes underneath seems like a good idea making it open to a bigger pan etc
No sloshing of metho seems safer in a small tinnie. But may have to think of a quick shut down system for it. For when "IT ALL HAPPENS"
Maybe a small computer fan or 1.5 volt motor and blade off my home-made 6' zip type stove would be a good experiment to turbo charge it up more.
Then I'd have to go to a Trangia so the flames can shoot straight up.
Get to the 3 minute for 1 litre thing one day.
( 100 ml metho and huge flames shooting up doesn't quite cut it but then it would look good at night wouldn't it??....Than maybe it would instant flare /signal device)
No wonder I use to love being it the rural fire briigade.

    O.K Jules
Yours will be burnt out before mine also then!!!
Let us know the burn time , usage of it and general specs and stuff.
So eventually when I get it I'll know what to expect from it.
Mine will most likey be sent on a slowwww boat or canoe or something.

    Hey, Nick,

HOLY MOLY, Lad!!

First, thanks, very much, for the very kind comments! This has turned into a great thread, and it just goes to illustrate, as you so rightly pointed out, how many of us love our Meths burners!!

Your work on crafting a new Meths burner is outstanding, Nick!! You have made fine progress, and it looks like you have thought out the problems, and solved most of them, quite nicely! Though I cannot do it right at this moment, I WILL take photos of the "Safe Fill", so you can see how it works, and why it doesn't leak Meths all over the place when filling the burner. I'll make the drawings I promised to Bruce, too, and will post it all in the next few days.

Right now, Sweet Bride and I are celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary, by working!!  8) Not to worry, though. We've a nice dinner planned for this evening, and maybe a movie, too. We're excited about seeing Johnny Depp's work in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie!!

Again, outstanding job on your Meths-Franken stove, Nick!! I think you are on the right track, and that with a little tweaking this little fellow of yours will be outstanding!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

    Keep taking the medication.

    Your making us look bad

Iv'e only made a coke can one

Waiting for a diagram and funnel dia etc

Didn't think the tube went right though.
Keep us informed of progress please.
Mine may take a while as I waiting for the cookset first to arrive from over there
Never owned one before..come to think of it I've seen 'em in shops but NEVER seen any-one use one in the wild or other stoves except LPG /butane things.

Sometimes I wouln't get it if it came in a big brown bag marked IT.

Your right about the photos etc; it is a big ask and I am greatfull for Doc to take the time out of his life to post all of this here and the other people that contribute things of similar stuff for the benifit of all.
