Ron, It looks as though the cleaning needle is an exact fit to the jet. The only way to change this to a smaller kero-sized jet would require changing the cleaning needle as well. Then there is also the question as to whether the fuel will get hot enough to properly vaporize. AR
Hi AR, These Russian stoves have a neat design for the cleaning needle. The actual steel needle piece is separate from the housing it sits in. In fact my example came with a very small oiled paper package containing a number of spare needles. I very nearly discarded this as it wasn't obvious that the tiny paper package contained anything until I thought to unwrap it at the last minute just in case anything was in there - hope nobody has inadvertently thrown them away. Therefore, should the supplied needle not fit a smaller aperture jet, then it should be fairly easy to replace with a suitably sized piece of wire (e.g. high E guitar string?). If only Optimus 111 and other similar burners employed this same design! Cheers, Graham.
I guess Optimus designers thought that the needle they put in would last a lifetime of the stove. They were thinking 10 years only when in fact thieir stoves would last perhaps 50 years with TLC. Its only other off brand clone copies I see providing the extras such as prickers, cleaning needles, extra maintenance tools to their stoves. Then again its a marketing ploy perhaps so you can buy accessories or maintenance parts from them.
