I have been looking for a pot stand for a Pigeon Ignus which I acquired earlier this year but without any success. I have seen a couple of older posts about one of our members, (Zincman, I think) making a couple of them and wondered if there was any chance that I could make a similar request.
Morning, Roy, Duncan made one of those stands for me, but that was back when he was active on the forum. He is busy with his work, these days, and other hobbies, and we only see him occasionally. I'm not sure if he would accept a commission to make another one of those, but you could ask him. It won't be cheap, but will be wonderfully done! Another option is go haunt French eBay, and see if you can buy a "parts Ignus" from which you can acquire the stove, and other parts you might want to get. I did that, and it worked out rather well, and didn't cost too much, either. Good luck, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc PS - spending time on French eBay "can" be dangerous, because you will find lots of very, very neat stuff offered for sale there! Shipping can be high, but hey, parts can oft be found that way.
Hello. I have not bought from his site. His site has been around for years and he sell stuff on ebay. Maybe someone else here on CCS has? Rob
I have bought various prickers from him, maybe some other things. he owns a Pigeon Ingnus and has helped me with a problem. He is reliable if a little slow. I get the feeling he does the designs and work himself
Thanks all. I think that for around £17 including postage it is worth placing my first order with Kitelamp. regards, Roy
sometimes my brain goes slippery like teflon. I have bought products from him and I found it good as the original.
I have bought the Ignus pot stand from kitelamp.com. It is a very good copy of the original fitting very well on top as can be seen in the photo, but I found it more difficult to pack away than the original into the case. I also bought the valve control.
Whoa. I am very jealous of that flame Robert. Mine barely covers the cap. I believe it has an ineffective jet. Have you ever measures the size of the orifice? I believe mine is .032 MM
Unless the jet is blocked (prick it) the jet’s not likely to be responsible for poor output. Make sure the metal strand wick isn’t absent or in poor condition, clogged or corroded maybe. The wick fits inside a tube in the fuel tank, curving down from the outlet to the lowest point. The wick doesn’t just act as a wick to transfer fuel but (being metal) conducts heat from the burner to warm and pressurise the fuel. If that heat transfer action is hindered by a wick in poor condition the fuel barely pressurises and burner output is correspondingly feeble. Like Robert’s, this should be achievable soon after an alcohol prime. John
I have now received the pot stand from Kitelamp. It is a good copy, fits well and is worth the cost although, as with Robert's comment, it is a bit of a tight fit to pack away
@presscall and others Ignus owners I found a Ignus stove which doesn't goes well I dismanteled the metal wick and cleaned it (all clogged) now I have a problem with the flame diffuser it seems to have an inner part which have an odd shape I am afraid it have suffered with the heat The flame represses and comes out little by the holes of the diffuser who can provide me some picture of the inside of this part to compare ?
@Michel Your cap is missing the built-in riser tube and ‘inner’ cap. It’s an assembly and doesn’t dismantle. Comparable construction to a Primus 100 silent burner converter cap. John
Hi @Michel Silent damper for No.100 stove. Silent "Damper" for Primus 100 Burner. Same principle but larger than that for Pigeon stove.... Best Regards, Kerophile.
@Michel I meant specifically a Primus 4010 converter cap to illustrate the one-piece construction such as your Ignus should be, but the Primus isn’t a substitute for it obviously. One of these.
@presscall Yes John I know about the principle this is the same as on several stoves and heaters I own I own the small tube but it is not soldered and I am not sure of the shape I wonder if the inner cap is not completely burned
Completely burned probably but completely absent certainly, which leaves me to wonder Michel, given that you’ve pointed out that you understand the principle, why you bothered firing up the cap in that condition.
