I would like to say, Thank you, in advance. I was able to ID the Coleman & Griswold, those were easy, but I am stuck on the others. Does anybody know anything about these? The one with green glass holds a candle & still has a small bit of candle in it. The lantern in pic 6 says Dietz on it. Regards,
#3A & 3B are made for use on the side of the roads, much like the old smudgepots were, there were hung on traffic barricades and lit to show their location at night. #6 is a railroad lantern used by the brakemen, a friend has one of them. Murph
2A and 2B (the same lantern) was made by (I'm guessing here from the look of it) AGM for Sears. The blue colour is an old Sears Roebuck/Ted Williams colour. lance
7 & 8 are commonly referred to as blowtorches. Most often used for melting plumbing lead. The founts/fuel tanks were often subject to stress cracks/fractures.....It sort of looks like they are present on #8. I've read that these are best cleaned up and then shelved rather than used. David
#6 is probably a Dietz. #3 A/B has an Embury lens so it may be an Embury. Normally the name is embossed in the metal work somewhere on the lantern. There is an extensive web site about wick lanterns but I don't have it bookmarked anymore. I do remember that the fellow used a mixture of molasses and something else to remove rust without removing tinning. Best, Bob
#1 is a lead melting pot. #3 is a barricade lantern as stated before. #4 appears to be a ships anchor lantern, although they normally weren't green. #6 appears to be a Dietz "barn" lantern, seldom used on the railroads. Good collection!

I don't know for sure, but #1A/B could be the smaller cousin of a furnace I have right here. It's from the Wall company. I can't make out the worn sticker on yours, but it looks a bit like the one on my furnace.
The torch in #7 is probably made by Otto Bernz Co. I have an identical unit, clean and dry, sitting on my desk. If the sticker is gone, check the red knob to see if it says "Otto Bernz Co Rochester, N.Y." I believe Otto Bernz Co. developed into the Bernz-o-Matic company.
Gidday Oldstoves 5A & 5B look like Haller Original stoves. Manufactured in Netherlands. I have a similar one that is red. there are photos here on site under Haller. Dougc
