Testing this stove… It’s unbranded, but most likely this stove: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/shields-operating-instructions-for-2-burner-stove.56661/ It’s burning well. The regulated burners are also unbranded, and I have not seen these burners before. Cheers Tony @Rodger Willows
Thanks @Tony Press great result. Looking forward to seeing the completed fettle in the Stove Reference Gallery…
Graphite Tape for control spindle - The Fettlebox Out of stock! Remus 1956, yes, I would appreciate some help sourcing this stuff. I live off grid in the mountains, no power except a trickle from solar panels, no running water, no internet, no smart phone - No hassles and no neighbors either! When I get to town I get on-line at a library, so my time for internet browsing is very limited. Is this the sort of tape ? good grief, 50 feet!~ Amazon.com: MinGraph Flexible Graphite Crinkled Tape, 1/2" Width, 50' Length .015" Thickness, No Adhesive : Office Products
Hi @Robert Van Putten , I'm not the biggest expert on this site but I got scolded once for using the wrong forum. You did show a flame shot but its since morphed into a discussion thread with nothing to do with Flameshots. My suggestion is to ask an administrator to move your post here to the righ spot. I don't know where that is. I am not an expert here. In fact, I just get by. Anyway, I followed snwcmpr 's link and found it was out of stock too. I see what you found is totally in the right ballpark. But here you go: Old Coleman Parts > Lantern Parts > Graphite Ribbon - P09 Graphite Ribbon - P09 SKU: Graphite Ribbon-20 Graphite ribbon. It is 1/4 inch wide and 12 inches long. It is scalloped to make it more flexible for wrapping. Works for tip cleaner assemblies or any other thing where the normal graphite packing won't fit. It is easily cut with a pair of scissors to fit whatever you might need. $5.75
1942 Coleman 520 (Civil Defence model) This early, four-footed 520 in CD guise is a pretty rare cookie and was very generously gifted to me by my great friend @Remus1956. Having stripped the stove down completely, cleaned, serviced and then put it back together over the last few days, this evening was its first firing-run. I believe our American cousins have an expression which fits the bill here… l’m stoked! Pharael.
Apologies, this is not a stove. But its in the family, and a flame shot worth sharing. I was admiring the creations of @presscall and @HONDA that utilize parts of a soldering torch when I saw this Primus torch for sale. I must hone some more fettling skills before I attempt anything similar, but in the meantime I got this torch cleaned up and running as designed. I have never had to work so hard to remove the impacted, disintegrated remains of an old pump leather from a pump tube...
Got this new Thermidor picnic stove, what's with the flames shooting out the side? Whoops, never mind
A non-pressure stove and a new type for me, a Falks Veritas No 2 twin burner cooker. Paraffin feed is by gravity, the burners create a hot silent blue flame using a very effective chimney which vapourises the fuel and mixes with air. Needs to be dead level. One needle valve was jammed shut and the fuel cap needed persuading to come off the glass jar, but after an initial clean-up it works very well.
This time, it’s the preheating flame. My collection’s crown jewel — an Optimus R8 preserved in its original condition, with only a case liner and a primer wick added.
This is my Burmos No.51, the discus-style roarer sibling to my No.55 silent I recently posted in the SRG. Pharael.
