@Tony Press - the one above is a bog standard 'modern' Primus No.5 (from 1957). The one here below is another standard Primus No.5, this one from 1915:



Equally blue - OK the stoves are both in good fettle - but a decent batch of paraffin must have a lot to do with it too I think Ian

My new to me Optimus 8R.

 

Hi,

There's a bit of a story behind this setup, but the short version is this is a Primus 71 (short tank) in an Edelweiss cook kit--like a Sigg Tourist trimmed down a bit. It's the first time it's been fired since some time in 1967. There was still fuel (50 year old "real" white gas) in the tank, so I just topped it off with fresh CF to see what would happen. It fired but didn't burn properly at first. Needed a new seal in the fuel cap! And some of the neighbor lady's great soup to give it something to warm up.

Oh, yeah, for geeves: 6 1/2 minutes, 1 liter room temperature tap water inside building, no lid on the pot.
