Optimus nova with novadawg cap. The "sideburns" are to improve thermal feedback. They go down to a copper base plate.

Few flameshots of my Coleman 400. For some reason, this stove seems to burn with a very orange flame sometimes. It also simmers really well, and it's good for cooking.

Ohyeah...that's the Apex. Here's a few more flameshots of the 400, Apex, and a 550B.

It's an Israeli Half-Shekel. I tapped the center with a hammer to make it slightly concave.

    A handsome coin, Yonadav.

It was your mentioning it was brass that caught my eye because in Britain we haven't had a brass coin since our old threepenny bit (pre-decimal coinage) went out of circulation in 1971.

I realise that it would have to be brass and not copper to cope with the heat. Even if copper didn't melt it would shed oxide scale.

Some of the British 'copper' coins would be ok; they're made of steel.

    55,500 BTU's/hour, or 16Kw, a Primus 85 burner

That's the Primus 85 on the left, with a Coleman Handy Gas Plant on the right, marginally less powerful - though you'd never notice

Those two are the "12 inch guns" (as on a battleship) of stoves! Do you wear hearing protection when you fire up the Primus 85?

Ok, not a stove, but silbrazing's something that features in a lot of my stove project

    Getting hot ...

    1317328326-DSC_8213-1.JPG

If you look closely you will read Sweden on the flame ring :-k Guess its because of the strong connection Høvik had with this Swedish company

    Best regards

Couldn't resist the temptation, simply had to try The Beast! :D/
Ran the usual check-up list, all was fine, only gave the pumpcup a good oiling. To be sure I did a double pre-heat and she ran (more or less) fine! Had to clean the nipple a couple of times, had a few fireballs (great in the dark  ) but once warm things went fine!

    Best regards,

    Wim

Optimus Nova with Silentcap (1.00mm holes). Good simmer but not able to produce enough Power 8) Here you can see a bit of the flame lift-off while opening the valve more and more. The gas-speed seemed to be too high. Now I enlarged the holes to 1.20mm which seems to be the best compromise between simmer and high power output.

    1320276941-DPP_01542_opt.jpg
Optimus Nova with Silentcap(1.40mm holes). Very good at high power and still able to simmer. The outer cap was made out of "Pre-drilled-sheet metal" I just had to cut off a bit, roll it to capsize and braze it on the lid. No horrible drilling with this one :D/
