Hi all Hope somebody can help with advice on the removal and replacement of the NRV in a Primus 657 blowtorch. The NRV protrudes from the bottom of the handle/pump tube (see picture). I don’t see the normal NRV head on the inside of the pump tube.
Hello, probably, being the valve body accessible in that way, it doesn’t use a common removable 2 parts NRV. The “head” is probably integrated in the pump end cup. So just unscrew the NRV body to access the spring and pip and renew the seal. Nicola
In this case, you just replace the NRV sealing pip, not the whole valve… maybe is that what you mean. Nicola
Thank you Nicola! I suspected that the NRV consists only of the tube containing the spring and pip and that this tube screws into the body of the pump tube. I will gather my nerves and attempt it!
Use a drill chuck on the cylinder rather than a screwdriver in the slot at the bottom to remove it. Best regards Tony
You were right! The NRV screws into pump tube body. It is however a “male” screw and not the same as normal Primus/Petromax NRV’s. I was lucky to be able to unscrew without too much damage
