Here Tony simply asked for pics of my 1955 P71. I wasn't going to post pics of stove and Note 1: this wasn't a topic I intended to delve into but I want to oblidge request so here goes. It turns out with the many 71s in the SRG, we do not have an example of complete regular size 1955 AU P71 and tin w/detailed images incl. date stamp. I did not know that and I don't have one (at least I don't think there is one here). SO I am sorry we still don't have that, not yet. My box says 71L, inside was this short 1955 AU P71 with pink 2 sided instructions 6 languages, same as here except my print code is ....1334. 53.8. My hunch, printed in '53. My impression is these 3 items were packaged together from Hjorth Primus in '55. 71L we would think included a tin. When I acquired it in 2017 ($20 on ebay btw) there was not a tin w/it, re tin, I've no comment or inclination beyond it's absent a tin. more
SO how bout the reg. sz. AU 1955 P71. In the past I have reviewed P71s extensively, I own a bunch. I have saved this image as a '55, it should be accurate (time will tell), a date stamp pic is not included. My impression is, not if but when a good 1955 AU regular size example emerges it should be stamped AU, have slotted Hjorth Primus tin and look like this: I feel compelled to mention my position, re comments on CCS that change to P71 tank lid occurred in '55 I do not agree with. Further I stand by that from late 1954, 55 & 56 P71s would be the same and stamped AT, AU, AV as far as I know. more
Early in '54 is still complicated, above I specified late 54. > Before that: 1952, 53 & 54 is when the change occurred from dome lid to SRV lids and that change was not straight forward. It began sometime in 52, then things get complicated and by late 54 changes were completed. > Then late 54 thru 56 P71 was again a consistant product imo. > After that, maybe late 56?, but c1957/58 for sure it gets a lil goofy again. c57/58 is when there are "some" undated P71s and that change was not straight forward either. I've seen an undated 58 and a dated AX '58. I've not seen a date stamped AW 1957 reg sz. P71. Has anyone else? Any and all comments welcome, if anyone might want to take this and run w/it, great! You have my blessing. If in the near term I'm not enthused w/discussion or commenting a whole lot on this topic now, see note 1. I can, we can, always catch up later and or cross reference this. Tony asked, I want to answer the good man but his question is in and around P71 year ranges that get complicated. I wasn't prepared, I gave it a shot. thx omc tag @Tony Press
