The 71s and 123s are all attractive little stoves. My favourite amongst them has to be the small 71 (in the middle below) It's a proper little sweetie! If you use the small key it already has the nipple key stamped out.
hi Ian: yes the small one is the one I got yesterday.. a member forum was kind enough to set me up with a tin for it! i'll post up some pics as soon as I can... tim
hi rik: it cleaned up real nice and i tried to fettle it up last night, but it's still burning very weakly. i cleaned out the jet, ran some some fuel down into the riser tube, but still doesn't have enough power to keep itself going.. i tried removing the burner tube but its screwed in so tight i cannot budge it at all...it's gotta be a bad wick/riser tube blockage problem i would imagine.... it is a nice little piece though, no dents or dings and it cleaned up like New York.... can't wait to get her in shape as Evil has so kindly rounded me up a tin for it... thanks tim
tried hacking one out of leather last night, the old seal was so hard that it actually cracked into pieces like English toffee...maybe the leather one i rigged isn't good enough...I'll have to get that seal replaced, I'll figure it out eventually...wish i could get that threaded riser tube off the tank though, just to take a look in there, run a pipe cleaner thru or something....
Why Why do you guys do this to me ever time a new picture of a stove goes upi got to go out in shop get one also71 nice loud hiss the 8r burns good low hiss the both have enders burnes screw on tops
Robert - Oops, What's all that silvery stuff wrapped around the base of the burners on those two stoves? Looks like tin foil / aluminum foil, but I doubt it. Something to UP the temp. in the tank because the silent burner won't self pressurise the tank properly ? Spudz
Hello, Tim, Send me a PM, with your full name and mailing address, and I'll send you a proper Optimus replacement gasket, as soon as we're back home from this work gig. You'll love your little 71, once it's singing in full voice!! 8) Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc Mark
Hi Doc: thank you very much, I appreciate it! PM on the way...I hope there's something I can do for you all someday!! thanks tim
The stuff on them is a fiberglass wick so i can put more prime to get it going if i don't have it on there got to did it twice. Oh they will start up but not full steam with wick most time prime one time. oh the wick is the type that go around the wood stove door 3/4
I have a Primus 71 in great condition with original instructions and tips , tiedown strap that I have just bought. I am in Australia and would like to know if there is a market for it..
Ebay is probably your best bet, or you can post it in the For Sale / Trade forum here. Either way, a picture would be useful.
I'm sure I've seen them for sale somewhere, base camp, ebay ???? I'm sure I can remember a posting about it as well. That's not much help but they are out there, ex MOD I think
