    I do feel as though the part must have been switched out somewhere along the way since you all have much more experience than I have. The consensus has been that the 8R didn't have a stamped flame plate.
    One of my collecting quirks is I always want all original (that's why this topic was made, it was bothering me about the stamp not being the norm).
    I do feel another 8R will be in my future, hopefully a new in box one, one can hope.

    Have a look at the flame plate in this thread . Your's may be a flame plate from a Radius 42.

    I'm curious about the holding collar (unsure of exact term) that is inside the 8R housing. It appears to hold the stove steady when in transport. I've included a photo of one I saw in the gallery.
    Mine doesn't have this collar. Did some years have it and some not?

    @lisantica

    Some stoves had that burner retaining clip, and some did not. I don't know which years but the one I bought new back in the 70's had already done away with it.
    I now have a couple stoves with the clip and, since I like to store a few items in the case when I am camping, I find it only gets in the way. That is also the reason I am ok with the key/multitool in place of the more classic knob.

    Good to know some had it and some did not @itchy. I was beginning to think that perhaps the one I have coming broke off. But by looking at the photo of mine, it didn't appear that one had ever been attached, hence the question.
    I sure am learning a lot about the 8R through this purchase of mine.

    Looked down a branch of my very deep rabbit hole and see two of my four 42's are plain, two marked "Made in Sweden".

    Primus 8R arrived today. It's smaller than I thought. For some reason I thought they were 10 or 12 inch square. I sill love it, though.

    You may have been thinking of a 111.

    @hikerduane yes, you are right, I was expecting something that size. But I'm not disappointed with this one, I rather quite like it.
