This six burner is under repair for a customer. Can anyone remind me of the maker? Early look, pre 1912 perhaps, note the curved base. This fits under a large copper boiler with tap to heat water over a bath...! Interesting start to bathtime..! Should have vertical burners I think like the early Primus #33 multiburner.
i can't name the maker, but it looks a better option of making hot bath water than an electric kettle when the gas boiler breaks in the house. which is quite often, damn thing
Hello, Now that is what I need for my brew kettle ! Is that logo flanked by two blowlamps ? The sure look like Optimus blow lamps ? Chuck
The logo is two blowlamps with a 'smiley' face inbetween..! Definately not Primus but perhaps one of the smaller makers or a subsidary or Primus? When it is running at full blast you can't hold a decent conversation next to it.!
Chuck, those blow lamps could be practically any brand, not just Optimus. The old Swedish gasoline lamps of that size all looked like that, more or less. For instance, I have a Max Sievert blow lamp that's a spitting image of those lamps in the logo. That doesn't mean that this stove/furnace is made by Sievert, but I have a faint recollection that some of the C.R. Nyberg related companies used blow lamps in their logo, which also would be a logical thing to do since blow lamps were Nybergs "thing".
This is definitely a Primus, either #745 or 746. That stamp is common on very old items befor 1920 or so. The bulge in the bottom looks srtange, I have never seen something like that. But it must be ther for some reason. Bo
I would guess the bulge is there as an re-enforcement, to help prevent the bottom from bulging outward if over-pressurized. As the stove sits on its bottom, a outward bulging would make it a rocker! My $.02 anyway...
