A dedicated, patient and committed stovie you are @Rodger Willows! The stove presented you with multiple issues and you tackled them all! I have enjoyed following this fettle and have learnt alot. Many "tricks" of the trade to bring these stoves back from the brink. Great to see it burning strong. Regards Scott B

There's a bigger one on the horizon - all part of the learning... @Blackdog Yes, I was very "chuffed" although at times I was less so! The tank-mounted spirit cup certainly appears to be original, so possibly leaning more towards the 1900 end of 1900-1910? @mr optimus Thank you! If you zoom in on the patch you'll find a ridge in it... I had the tank full of water at on stage when I was pressure testing it and managed to not only extend the stress crack, but also cause an outward bulge. I decided to panel beat the patch, which then presented it's own problems. I attempted to flatten the bulge unsuccessfully, however after several "bakings" in the oven to dry it out, the bulge appeared to lessen. Maybe grooving the crack and drilling the ends helped? I was then left with the option of de-panel-beating the patch or cutting another... @igh371 Thanks! I've got a remnant carcass for fettlers-better-than-me to perform their magic on! @Scott B Thanks! When I "snaffled" this one in Ross that day I had a dose of the "guilts" for sneaking it out from under the bench before you, but I've well and truly worked through that (and the stove too)! A $15 bargain that only took up a week of my time!

Yesterday after using this as my test-bed to explore various lengths of furnace-style roarer burner flame rings Furnace-style Roarer Burner Flame Ring Length I had a sense that it wasn't performing as well as it had previously. This morning I submitted it to a pressure/immersion test and yes, it was leaking again from all three previous soldering sites! Fortunately the riser/tank junction remains leak free. Another round of soldering/leak testing and I think that it's all good again. After all of my trials yesterday, I treated it to a new 40mm stainless steel flame ring! Ooooh Aaah! Fired it up and left it running for an hour - all seems to good. Oh, and I almost forgot - I found this lovely bright nugget when I was about to refuel it!
Looking grand, impressive output! The stainless tube should be the last anyone needs to fit. As for the nugget- better out than in. Just think of that extra tank capacity you've freed up
